Perrin Header Prepared for Installation

13 Aug 2009, 15:14

Here is an example of the high temperature coatings that we can offer. This Satin Black coating is rated at 1800 Degree's Heat Resistance and gives a great look to boot. As you can see in the photo time line we started with a slightly used Perrin Header for a WRX STi, then blasted it with 120 grit Aluminum Oxide to prepare for the coating, sprayed the coating in 2 light coats and finally cured it.

Check out www.IPGCoating.com to see what else we can offer with our coating services !!!

This particular header is actually scheduled to go on our in house project '08 Subaru Impreza WRX STi and we are excited to install it and give further feedback at that point in time.

Lamin-X Tail Light Overlays Installed on STi

1 Jun 2009, 16:33

One of the things about our 2008 WRX STi that has irked us from the day we got the car was the clear tail lights.  With the use of the Lamin-X Tail Light Overlays we have fixed the appearance and are happy with the outcome.  The Lamin-X Overlays are an inexpensive film option that will still allow the correct amount of illumination from the Tail Light bulbs to shine through while completely changing the look of the rear of the car.  We chose to cut out the reverse lamp and turn signal sections to give it a great look.

Here are the Before and After Pictures:

STi Gets New Shoes. Gram Light 57 Optimise

22 May 2009, 14:39

After being indecisive as to what wheels to put on our project 2008 STi we finally settled on a set of Gram Light 57 Optimise in a size that will allow us to use our OEM tires still for the time being.  We are very happy with how the fitment and look turned.  The Gram Light 57 Optimise also offer a substantial weight savings over the OEM STi wheels.

Wheel size = 18" x 8.5" (OEM STi Tires, 245/40/18)
+43mm Offset
5x114.3 Lug Pattern
Color = Shining Silver
Weight = 20.5 lbs

First Mods to 2008 WRX STi Project Car

18 May 2009, 17:49

After 6 months of ownership the first modifications have made their way onto our 2008 Subaru WRX STi.  With just over 5k miles on the odometer we chose to go with the Cobb Catted Downpipe and a custom tune performed by Omar at Central Florida Turbo.  These basic modifications are very easy to perform and provide a decent kick in the butt performance increase for the low cost invested.  We chose the Catted Cobb Downpipe since it easily mates to the OEM Catback exhaust and offers only a slight increase in noise level from the OEM Downpipe.

The dyno horsepower and torque #'s from CFT aren't in line with the results we have seen from similar '08+ STi's so we will let the actual wheel horsepower and torque #'s be and just compare the percentage increase from the baseline #'s on the dyno.  With just the Cobb Downpipe bolted into place we saw a peak Horsepower Gain of 27 wheel horsepower and a Peak Torque Gain of 24 ft lbs of torque as measured at the wheels on CFT's Mustang Chassis Dyno.  Throughout the RPM band we did see an average of 20-25 horsepower and 15-20 ft lbs of torque.  Peak torque comes in very early at 3750 RPM and peak horsepower comes in at 6250 RPM.  Overall the car is a lot smoother to drive and the increased power and torque isn't anything to ignore either.  Ultimately all this has really done is give us the thirst for even more horsepower so plans are already under way to what direction we will be going to see considerable gains in the near future.
